Wooden, shell & bone beads were early man's first source material for jewelry making.  They were the easy to shape and to string when man had only simple tools to work with.  Over millennia  there have been beautiful carved adornments made from these natural materials. Today, wooden beads are still very much appreciated and valued for their versatility and beauty. . They are fashioned from many different varieties of trees and seeds, carved & painted in a myriad  of styles by every culture.  This jewelry has an African flavor. Colorful, hand painted ebony and red beads are alternated with large barrel shaped black beads and separated by a lovely translucent red jade stones. Please note: the earrings look twice as large on the display because it is 1/2 life size. Yellow turquoise is a muted yellow green to a dark kaki  color with veins of rust, brown or gray. It is actually a mixture of jasper and quartz that is mined in turquoise producing locations. It creates a very neutral appearance and blends very well with serpentine stones.  This jewelry set looks beautiful with light red, sky blue, peach or forest shades. It is very versatile.
