Religious Tassel Bookmarks
In Numbers 15: 37, the Bible says the Lord commanded Moses to tell the people of Israel to make tassels or tzitzits. Tassels worn at the corners of robes were to have one blue thread. The blue, representing the color of the vast oceans of the earth and the color of the sky, was to remind the people of God and his commandments. Other than the blue thread requirement, the Bible does not state how tassels were to be made. These tassel bookmarks are made of silk, angora and cotton blend yarn. They are approximately 9" long. They are made with 4 threads in the 10-5-6-5 wrap tradition: Each number of wraps signifies a Hebrew letter that, together, spells Yahweh's name. A prayer was said while this tassel was being made.
